We ask that you only bring 1 Guest with you to your Appointment. 

This requirement is to insure the most peaceful, personal experience for every one of our Artists and Clients 🍊 

By law: no one under 18 may enter any area where Tattooing, Nipple Piercing or Genital Piercing is performed. Guests should be prepared to show ID!  

We do kids ear piercings when they are willing to do all of the following:

~ Verbally ask for them and consent to the procedure 

~ Independently follow directions

~ Sit still for the duration of both piercings 

If you think your child is ready; give us a call to set up an appointment! 

We believe strongly in both safety and consent.

All piercings are performed with sterile, single use needles specifically designed for Body Piercing!

All tools and equipment used to perform your piercing or tattoo is prepackaged, sterile and single use! 

Over the last few years the price of our gloves, sanitizers and single use equipment used to provide our clients with safe, sterile and professional jewelry changes has more than tripled.
Rather than raising the price of our body jewelry; we decided to charge a $10 Jewelry Change Fee. We believe this is most transparent approach possible, and hope you agree! 

Yep! We have Piercing Retainers for nearly every piercing out there 😉 

We also have new Pregnancy retainers for hard to keep piercings like Navels and Nipples! 

Certain fresh piercings like nostrils and ear cartilage just don’t like the motion and angle of hoops in those first few months 😢 Hoops large enough to allow for safe swelling are also more likely to get caught, migrate, or take an extra long time to heal!  
Trust us: good hoops are worth the wait 😉 

All of our initial Piercing Jewelry is ASTM F-136 Implant Grade Titanium! We also offer certain piercings in Solid 14k Nickel-Free Gold for an additional fee✨ 

Some places try to cut costs by using “surgical” steel that is heavier, weaker and more suited to making kitchen knives than body jewelry. Even 316L Steel can contain up to 10.5% Nickel leading to severe allergic reactions in sensitive skin! 

The European Union even outlawed its use for initial piercings in 2000 😬
Titanium also has the benefit of being able to change color without a plastic coating! 

If classic high polish silver titanium doesn’t fit your aesthetic; we can anodize your jewelry in house during your appointment!
Anodizing is an electrolytic finishing process that manipulates the oxide layer on the surface of titanium via electric current……we shock it and it changes color! Without an icky plastic coating 🥰 

We can do other metals like gold, rose gold and brass or fun colors like blues, purples and pinks! 

We know most of our customers aren’t familiar with Body Jewelry brands; but that’s what you have us for!
All of our Implant Grade Titanium and 14k Gold Body Jewelry comes from some of the finest artisans in the United States including Dusk, Peoples, BJO, LeRoi, NeoMetal, Mushroom Body Jewelry and so many more!

We also offer a number of jewelers services in-house including hoop and chain cutting and finishing, anodization and even stone setting services for Threadless ends!

We have an ever changing collection of about 30 varieties of genuine stones in stock with dozens more available by custom order including custom in house set stones you won’t find anywhere else!  
The integrity and impact of our jewelry is one of our top priorities. We have detailed information available for each stone we carry here at Velvet Orange and offer sustainable alternatives for gems that cannot currently be ethically sourced.

And as the saying goes; it’s worth its weight! Like all jewelry 14K solid gold rings, posts and beads hold value in a way cheap steel, or even the nicest titanium just never will! 

Not your color? We have rose and white gold options available by custom order! 

18k Gold is just too soft to be safely worn INSIDE the body on a daily basis 😢 

Not only do we not want to see you lose money on a piece of beautiful jewelry that likely won’t last long; we don’t want it to hurt you! When body jewelry breaks, bends, warps or separates inside our bodies it can be dangerous and that risk just isn’t worth that extra couple karats 😉 

We currently only offer solid 14k Gold jewelry as an initial piercing option on select piercings for a couple reasons:

*Not all piercings work well with gold. In certain piercings, gold can be just too soft to withstand daily wear.
*Some jewelry is just not available! Unfortunately jewelry companies have just not caught up with the times. They simply don’t make many of the lengths, thicknesses and styles of jewelry that we need for safe, long lasting piercings. We hope to continue to expand our gold offerings as more becomes available! 

Not all Gold is created equal!!
“Rose” gold gets its rosey hue from its very high Copper content.
Until some clever marketing campaigns by large jewelry corporations this material was used mostly for industrial applications due to its tendency to oxidize and turn bright green 😬  

Still in love with the color? We can anodize titanium to the same beautiful hue! All without coatings or copper 😉 

Our initial consultation helps us determine if the length of jewelry you need is available in 14k Gold!
Don’t worry; 75% of our clients are within the available size range 😉 

And if you aren’t; don’t worry either! Our Implant Grade Titanium options are just as biocompatible and we can anodize it to a beautiful gold hue (see our FAQ on anodized titanium!) 

At the time of your consultation we require a $50 Non Refundable Deposit to create your jewelry and set your piercing appointment. This deposit protects the time of our Clients, Artists and partner jewelers 💎

Don’t Panic! Its probably not a keloid!
Keloids are pretty rare thankfully. (Though always possible) 

You most likely have a Motion Blister!

You know when you get a new pair of shoes and the friction causes fluid to build up under the skin? Same thing!
Some piercings are more likely to get them than others (nostrils and ear cartilage) but it can happen at any point in the life of your piercing with nearly any piercing. And it’s totally normal 😊

In the beginning we use a bar that allows for the swelling and healthy draining of fluid from your new piercing. This bar is longer than the bar you will wear when your piercing is healed.

It is very important to come back after your swelling has gone down and replace that longer bar with a more fitted one.
When we leave that long bar in our healing piercing it begins to migrate! Straight piercings become angled and the friction from the long post can cause motion blisters and scar buildup. 

While basic hygiene is obviously an important part of healing a new piercing, its usually not enough!
A body piercing is a deep puncture wound, and we recommend treating it the same way a wound specialist would in a hospital. Rinsing with a sterile, non medicated saline solution helps your body maintain the proper PH and moisture balance for your new piercing!
